From our vision, the Law of Arhuaca Origin is not an abstract theory or belief. It is the spiritual principle that gives life, movement and purpose to all that exists. It is invisible, but it is present in every stone, every river, every star and every human being.
This law is the creative force that holds the universe, and at the same time, it is the path that guides our conduct, our decisions and our way of living in harmony with everything around us.
The Origin Act teaches us that nothing exists on its own. It's all connected. What happens with a mountain, with an animal, with a sacred site, with a star or with a person, has an impact on the rest of the universe as waves that expand in the water. This interdependence is not a limitation, but an infinite source of energy, renewal and balance. That is why we say that the universe is in constant birth, transformation and rebirth.
Now, as the universe is a set of interdependent relationships, this interaction is the one that generates life. The deep knowledge of this pale universal —that invisible pulse that holds the existence— is what we call the Law of Origin, or the Law of Existence. He who can understand and live it becomes a mammy, the knower and guardian of that wisdom.
How is the power of the Arhuaca Origin Act transmitted?
The law of origin is transmitted through the path of the Mamu.
The Law of Origin is not learned in books or taught in empty words. You live, you breathe, you feel. And those who have the responsibility to preserve and transmit it are the Mamus, our spiritual sages. The path of the mamu is a sacred path that begins from before birth, when the elders identify the children (and girls) who have been chosen by nature to be séymuke, the future mamus.
The disciples of the Law of Origin: mamu arhuaco séymuke
Séymuke are special beings, carrying a pure spiritual force. Its formation is rigorous and profound.
Since they are small, they are fed with specific natural products, without salt or condiments, and are protected from external stimuli that can divert their learning. They live in the Kankurwa, our centre of cultural practice, where they receive direct teachings from the Mamus and their own parents, in an environment of reconsideration, respect and connection to the sacred.
Where is the Arhuaca Origin Act studied?
The origin of the mamus is the séymuke. They are formed in Kankurwas, which are not conventional institutions, but temples built in image and likeness of the Sierra Nevada.
Thus, the Kankurwa is a living manifestation of the mountain, a space where its energy, its wisdom and its vibration are reproduced. In these temples, the séymuke learn to hear what is not said, to see what is not shown, and to feel what is not touched, that is, the law of origin.
At certain stages of their formation, the séymuke enter the depths of the mountains, in natural caverns so vast that they can accommodate dozens of people. This retreat is not only physical, but spiritual: it is an immersion into the living insides of Mother Earth.
There, in the constant vibration of the mountain, the mamus develop higher capacities of listening and perception. It's like sailing deep waters, where the signs of the universe —even those coming from outer space— are amplified and revealed more clearly. This is how the Law of Origin is studied: in silence, in communion, in depth.
Why is the arhuaco mamu fundamental to the harmony of the universe?
The arhuaco mamu is not just a spiritual guide. He is the guardian of universal balance. His knowledge does not belong to him; he is part of the Law of Origin, and his duty is to keep that wisdom alive so that the world does not lose its course.
When a mamu speaks, it does so from the deep connection to the Universal Mother, to the sacred sites, to the ancestors and to the invisible forces that govern existence.
The culmination of the path of the mamu occurs when the séymuke is married, an act that represents its spiritual maturity and its ability to guide the people. From that moment on, he himself begins to form new séymuke, closing the cycle and ensuring that the Law of Origin continues to beat in the heart of our community.
What can they learn from the Law of Origin in the modern world?
In times where noise, haste and ego dominate many lives, the Law of Origin may remember that everything is connected and that every action has consequences. It may be a good invitation to live with respect, conscience and gratitude. Maybe I will teach them that true knowledge does not accumulate, it is shared.
That power is not imposed, it is served. And that life is not a straight line, but a sacred circle of birth, death and rebirth.
