In the framework of the session of the Standing Committee on Coordination (MPC), of indigenous peoples, including representatives of the Tayrona Indigenous Confederation - CITthey participated in a historic space that marks a milestone in the relationship between the Colombian State and the original peoples.

For the first time, indigenous peoples will build and update, together with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the country document on nationally determined contributions (NDC). This collective construction will allow indigenous peoples & apos; territories, territories and knowledge systems to be recognized and incorporated as part of national commitments to climate change.

This is a key step in recognizing the role of indigenous peoples and their knowledge in greenhouse gas reduction, within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on the Climate Change. The voice of indigenous peoples, historically marginalized in decision-making scenarios, begins to take its rightful place in the definition of public environmental policies of the country.

Indigenous participation in this process represents not only an act of historical justice, but also an opportunity to strengthen Colombia's commitments towards COP30. Recognizing ancestral knowledge systems and their contribution to ecosystem protection is key to ensuring effective and sustainable strategies in the face of the climate crisis.

The Tayrona Indigenous Confederation - CIT It stresses the importance of this step in the framework of consultation and reiterates its commitment to the defence of the territory, cultural survival and the search for joint solutions to meet the global challenges of climate change.
